pco.panda 26 DS – Double Shutter PIV camera
The pco.panda 26 DS sCMOS camera from PCO offers outstanding double shutter capabilities, high resolution of 5120 x 5120 pixels, 26MPixel images with an inter-framing gap as low as 1 μs making it the camera of choice for effective double imaging – a prerequisite to perform all types of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements. These include non-intrusive laser optical measurement techniques for research, diagnostics into flow analysis, turbulence, aerodynamics, microfluidics, chemical processing plants, spray atomization, spray dryers, rotary kilns, and combustion processes such as gas turbine combustors used for aero and marine applications.
Exposure times range from 6 μs to 350 ms and the frame rate is 7.1 fps @ 26MPixel. The dynamic range is 66dB, parasitic light sensitivity 1:10,000 so you can achieve a remarkably low readout noise and dark current.
In PIV, light scattering particles are added to the flow under test. A laser beam is formed into a light sheet, illuminating the scattering particles twice with a short pulse at a time interval Δt. The lower limit for this time interval is defined by the double image inter-framing time of the camera. The scattered light is recorded onto two consecutive frames of a high resolution digital camera. The shorter the double image inter-framing time, the higher the flow speeds which can be analysed.
The ultra compact housing design of the camera and interface provide easy integration. No external power supply is required and power and fast data transfer are through one single USB 3.1 cable. The camera comes with a 2 year warranty.
